Lia Thomas, A Penn Swimmer, Becomes The First Transgender Woman To Win An NCAA Swimming Championship

Thomas started transitioning in 2019 using hormone therapy. He also followed NCAA and Ivy League guidelines. She was questioned by both inside and outside of the sport about whether transgender girls and women should be allowed to play in female sports.

He stated, “I believe we should all feel comfortable in who we are as individuals,” but he believes that sports should be played on an equal playing field.
