Julia Garner Offers Madonna Role in Universal Biopic

Sources familiar with the project informed Variety that “Inventing Anna” actress Julia Garner was offered the role of Madonna in the forthcoming biopic about the pop icon.

One insider said Garner emerged as the favorite from more than a dozen candidates. Garner’s name has been floating around for months as a leading candidate for the role — a performance Madonna will direct as her director. Another source said that Garner’s team was considering the offer and is expected to accept it.
