HBO Declares House of The Dragon Their Biggest Premiere with over 10 Million US Viewers

Despite issues for some viewers trying to view via Fire TV Sticks and Fire TV Sticks, HBO announced the premiere of its Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon was the biggest ever, with 9.986 million viewers across both linear and HBO Max streaming. This was on Sunday night in the USA.

The Game of Thrones finale was watched by 13.7 million viewers on linear channels. In 2019, the series clocked over 19 million views, with streaming and video-on demand. HBO reports that interest in the original series, with all of it available for streaming in 4K HD on HBO Max, spiked ahead of the dragon premiere. This was compared to the July average of 90 percent.
