Harry, Meghan and William Appear Together in a Sign of a Royal Rapprochement
On Saturday, Princes William, Harry, and their wives made a rare joint appearance, greeting well-wishers outside Windsor Castle near London to remember Queen Elizabeth II.
According to reports, the brothers have been estranged ever since Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, split from royal life in April 2021. After the death in April 2021 of Prince Philip, Harry and William were last seen together. The two have not been seen together publicly in many years.
The relationship between Meghan and the U.K. tabloid media was bitter when the Sussexes were living in Britain.
It still lingers today. They claimed that tabloids incited racism against Meghan; they also claimed that institutional racism existed within the monarchy and that Buckingham Palace failed to protect Meghan. As the spotlight has been on the couple again, Meghan has come under fire for her comments on social media.
The talk of Harry’s arrival at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, on Thursday, was also a big deal. According to British media, King Charles III had said to Harry that Meghan shouldn’t travel to Balmoral with him before the queen’s funeral.
Saturday’s public appearance on Saturday was the latest indication that the royals are trying to repair ties, as they mourn the loss of their matriarch. Charles gave his first televised address from Buckingham Palace Friday and expressed his affection for Harry, Meghan, and their “continue to build their lives abroad.”
Many British newspapers featured photographs of couples walking together on Sunday’s front pages, with headlines focusing on their reunion.
Harry is fifth in line for the throne despite the controversial decision to resign from royal duties to move to the United States along with Meghan, their two children, Archie, and Lilibet.
