Google Thought It Was A Great Idea to Have Two Apps Called Meet

Duo users will see the new brand by September.

For any meeting features, you will need to log in with your Google account. However, familiar elements such as effects and contacts will still be available. While the original Meet app will still work, it won’t be able to receive ad-hoc calling and will eventually cease to exist.

A spokesperson stated that the merger was designed to meet the “evolving requirements” of video calling and meetings by offering a single experience. It’s also a further acknowledgment of the fact that Google’s communications app mix was too complicated. It plans to close Hangouts this autumn to concentrate on Chat. In early 2019, it removed Allo. Although the existence of Meet may still be confusing, it will soon become clearer which Google apps to use for your work meetings and keeping up with friends.
