Facebook’s Parent Company Leaves Frustrated Virtual Reality Pioneer

BERKELEY (Calif.) After becoming disillusioned by the management of virtual reality technology, a prominent video game designer has resigned as the corporate parent of Facebook.

John Carmack, the founder of Facebook, cut his ties to Meta Platforms in a Friday letter. He vented his frustrations as he worked as an executive consultant in virtual realities and stepped down in his role as a Facebook founder.

Carmack wrote the following letter, which he shared with Facebook. “There is no way of sugarcoating this; I think that our organization operates at half the effectiveness would make me happy.” “Some people may laugh and claim we’re doing fine, while others will say, “Half?” Ha! I’m at quarter efficiency!’
