Elon Musk Has the Option to Fight for the Internet, or He Can Continue Playing Games.

The first week of Elon Musk as Chief Executive of Twitter was predictable in its unpredictable nature. It saw high-ranking firings, contradictory policies and misinformation being tweeted out by the billionaire owner. However, Musk will have to soon chart a clear course for his platform’s future, or else the law could crack down on him, and indeed the open internet.

Before Twitter was acquired, Mr. Musk talked about a platform for free speech that would allow nearly all legal content, regardless of how offensive. Since then, he has somewhat changed his stance. Musk stated that advertisers wouldn’t have to worry that their brands might be in danger and that he would not allow advertisers to put their brand’s good name at risk. However, he also shared in a (subsequently deleted reply to Hillary Clinton) an article filled with baseless rumors regarding Nancy Pelosi’s assault. He then replied to another tweet, declaring that anyone suspended for minor or dubious reasons will be released from Twitter jail.
