Kaepernick replied, “A shot,” “Just a chance. We’re used to hearing, “Oh, you haven’t played in five years, can you still play?” It was a tough decision. We have been making all the workouts public and releasing them publicly.

“(I’m) thankful that this is an opportunity to lead to a next stage and hopefully crack that door so that I can run through that.”

According to Josina Anderson, Kaepernick would be open to a backup position in the NFL if this is necessary to get back into it. According to Kaepernick’s trainers, five NFL clubs have expressed interest.

This offseason, Kaepernick was tied to the Seattle Seahawks as he and wide receiver Tyler Lockett teamed up to pass the ball. The quarterback also reached out to Pete Carroll and sent him videos of the workout.

Although it remains to be determined if these workouts are enough to convince an NFL team of pulling the trigger, given how wild this offseason was, anything is possible. CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin has compiled eight possible landing spots for Kaepernick.
