Disney and HYBE jointly stated that the documentary will allow viewers to peek into their lives as they prepare for their second chapter.

The terms of the deal are not known. This move shows that Disney ( DIS), continues to pursue Netflix ( NFLX), and cash in on the popularity of Korean content and culture.

For example, last year’s “SquidGame” South Korean show from Netflix was the most watched on the internet. Disney also said that it has had success with titles such as “Snowdrop,” which is a Korean series that has been one of the most-watched in Asia.

“This collaboration represents the Disney’s creative ambition”

To collaborate with iconic content creators, top stars in Asia-Pacific, so their talent can be enjoyed mainstream audiences in many ways, Jessica Kam-Engle (Disney’s head content for Asia Pacific), stated in a statement. We believe these titles will be a hit with consumers around the world and we look forward to adding more music content to our service.

This is part of the major expansion to Asian content that was announced last October by the company. It intends to approve more than 50 titles from the region by 2023.

At the time, Hollywood’s giant stated that it was acquiring new shows from South Korea and Japan, Australia, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Many of these programs will be presented locally, in languages ranging from Mandarin to Bahasa Indonesia.

Netflix also has been investing in original Asian languages content and boasting the worldwide success of its Korean- and Japanese programming.

The stock of the company has been under pressure recently after it announced in April that it had lost subscribers. This news sparked debate over the long-term prospects of streaming.

However, investors seem to be more calm about Disney. In its most recent earnings presentation, the company stated that it had added more Disney+ users than anticipated over the past quarter. This brings its total to 137.7 millions.
