Bill Maher, a left-leaning comedian, defended the Florida bill critics unfairly referred to as “Don’t Say Gay.” He argued during Friday’s “Overtime” segment of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” that it was reasonable for children in elementary school not to “be thinking about sex at any time.”

Maher spoke out with Frank Bruni, New York Times columnist, and Batya Ungar–Sargon from Newsweek. He pointed out that the bill doesn’t actually ban the expression “gay” and only addresses classroom instruction for children in pre-kindergarten to third grade regarding gender identity/sexual orientation.
