Amanda Bynes Conservatorship Ended After Almost 9 Years
Lund stated at the conclusion of the hearing, “Congratulations Ms. Bynes”
The hearing was conducted over teleconferencing and Bynes and her parents were not present.
Her attorney requested a final accounting of Bynes’ trust. However, the trust is not within the scope the conservatorship. Any issues dealing with it will be dealt with in separate proceedings. Lund stated that he didn’t believe there would be an issue.
Bynes’ termination petition stated that Bynes has been a consistent test negative for illicit drugs, that she has managed her mental well-being and that her psychiatrist has stated that she is able to consent to any type of medical treatment.
Bynes has lived in a structured community for women since 2020. She has been able maintain an independent lifestyle and has regular check-ins to her case manager.
Bynes is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles. She has an associate degree cum laude for merchandise product development.
Bynes thanked her fans for their support and love in a short Instagram video that she posted weeks before her hearing.
In an interview with Paper magazine , she spoke out about her struggles with substance abuse and body image issues. Bynes stated to Paper magazine that she felt depressed and uncomfortable after seeing herself on the screen.
Bynes blamed herself for her actions, including the comments she made on social media. She also credited her parents with helping her to get out of a conservatorship for substance misuse. She stated that she was sober for four year at the time of her interview.
Bynes stated in the interview that she was embarrassed and ashamed of the comments she made. “I cannot turn back time, but I wish I could.” It really eats at me, and I am so sorry for anyone I hurt or lied about. It makes me sick and makes me sad.
