Trump Sues Hillary Clinton

According to the lawsuit, the FBI, “relying upon the Defendants’ fraudulent evidence,” launched a large-scale investigation into the spurious claim that the Trump Campaign conspired with the Russian Government in order to interfere in the 2016 Presidential election.

This lawsuit targets the now-infamous dossier claiming ties between Trump’s Russia and British. It was written by a former British spy, who was hired by an opposition research company working for Clinton. It also shows the efforts of a Democratically connected attorney to get the bureau to investigate possible computer links between a Trump Organization server and a Russian financial institution called Alfa Bank.

Durham claimed that Michael Sussmann was a lawyer who was representing the Clinton campaign and a technology executive when he approached the bureau’s general counsel. However, he said he wasn’t doing this on behalf of any client.

FBI used the dossier to help advance its investigation into Trump’s campaign. It was also used to justify a court request for secret surveillance of a former Trump campaign advisor. The computer ties were also reviewed by agents, who found nothing of concern.

An inspector general report from the Justice Department found that the FBI investigation into Trump’s campaign was “commenced for another reason”: George Papadopoulos (Trump campaign advisor) had told an Australian official about Russians possibly having dirt on Clinton. Investigators wanted to find out how he knew this.
