Trump Sues Hillary Clinton
Nick Merrill, a Clinton spokesperson, replied to the lawsuit with one word: “Nonsense.”
A spokesperson for the DNC did not respond immediately to a request to comment. The lawsuit also names more than twenty-six other entities and individuals.
Despite Trump’s repeated assertions that he was exonerated after a two-year investigation, Mueller in 2019 stated only that his team had not made any determination on “collusion”, and that it had failed to find sufficient evidence to bring charges against any Trump campaign member for criminal conspiracy.
Numerous Trump associates pleaded guilty in connection to Russia and the 2016 election, including federal conspiracy and lying to the FBI.
A 2020 report from the Senate Intelligence Committee described Trump’s 2016 campaign, pointing out that it posed counterintelligence risks due to its significant contacts and apparent determination to hide the full extent.
