Spotify Cancels 11 Original Podcasts. It Lays Off below 5% of Podcast Employees

Spotify will be removing 11 original podcasts. This will affect studios Parcast, and Gimlet, and result in less than 5% staff cuts. A source familiar with the matter confirmed this to TechCrunch. We understand that Spotify will also reassign some employees to other podcasts. Spotify did not respond to a request for comment on changes in staffing.

In the coming months, the podcasts that will be leaving the platform include Gimlet’s “How to Save a Planet,” the “Crime Show,” and “Every Little Thing.” Parcast also has “Medical Murders,” “Female Criminals,” the mess of Passion,” the Dictator ,” the Mythology ,” the Haunted places” and the “Urban Legends.”
