This comes as Anthony Albanese, Opposition Leader, has drawn level with Morrison as preferred prime minster. Labor maintained a two-party preferred lead at 55 to 45 percent in the most recent Newspoll.

Both leaders currently hold 42% for preferred prime minister. Mr Albanese has increased by 2 points while 16% remain uncommitted.

Morrison campaigned in Dobell, a marginal seat on the NSW central coast. He said that the management of the economy was crucial for reducing the cost of living.

After Russia’s invasion, Ukraine caused a sharp rise in petrol prices, the cost of living is now a key election issue.

Morrison said Monday that the next election was about a choice. It is about how we manage our economy so that we can have a better future.

“These cost-of-living impacts are real, and the Australian government is aware of that.”
