LG Presents Vibrating Speakers, an Ultra-thin Option to Traditional Car Audio

LG Display today announced that it will begin selling thin, vibrating car speakers in the first half of 2023. The Thin Actuator Sound Solution is similar in size to a passport and eliminates many of the bulkier components of traditional car speakers.

LG Display is well-known for the panel technologies that it develops and provides to many companies, including the consumer of LG. The new speaker does not require a speaker grille and doesn’t use any cone, magnet or voice coil. The speaker uses a “film-type exciter technology,” described by LG Display. This vibrates display panels and other materials within the car to produce “3D” sound. LG Display claims it is just as good as traditional car speakers.
