Kevin Smith Was So Overwhelmed’ at Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez’s Wedding: A ‘Fantastic Love Tale’

“So, I went by virtue of the fact that, “Yay, we get to see what was almost there many years ago.” These kids are great. It was easy for them to figure it out. It was truly moving. It was a show that made me feel so good that many people will pay money to see it. It makes them believe in the love… and it was free! It was one of the most beautiful and meaningful moments in my life.

Smith was moved to see his friend Affleck look so happy in 1995’s Mallrats. They have made many memorable movies together, including Chasing Amy (1997) as well as Dogma (1999). After a difficult period, the pair rekindled their friendship and creative partnership when Silent Bob Reboot was released in 2019. He also appeared in Clerks III.

Smith says, “I’ve known this cat for 27 years. We met when he came to audition for Mallrats. Then we became good friends.” He’s one of my favorite people, one of my favorite artists, and one of the best writers. Because they wrote their vows together, I was blissful at their wedding. I was also able to listen to Ben Affleck read the speech all day.

“I have seen him happy. This is the guy who won Oscars… I’ve never seen him happier than he was as he stood there, and she was walking down the aisle ]. It was amazing. From that moment on, I was giggling.

Smith has only well-wishes for the happy couple.

He says Jennifer Lopez is “one of the luckiest people in the world.” “She just f***ing got Ben Affleck. Ben Affleck is a great catch.
