# 1 F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was Initially Named Insomnia Cafe, and a lot of other names

The creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman came up with the name Insomnia Cafe as the cast regularly visited a cafe. Also, the name was changed to “Friends like us.” The other names were “Six of us” and “Across the Hall.” Finally, they all came up with a simple yet impactful name on the show’s premiere on September 22, 1994.

#2 Monika and Joey’s Characters Were Going to end Together

Well, it’s a shock, but Marta Kauffman confirmed in an interview that Monica and Joey were initially going to be a couple. So, while Chandler came in, the audience response was fantastic. 

She explained that many original pair-ups were altered as the character developed natural chemistry. For example, Monica and Joey had a kind of best buddies chemistry, and hence they continued with it.

#3 Lisa Kudrow was Pregnant in the Show

When Phoebe became a surrogate mother to carry his brother’s triplets, she was pregnant in real life. So they added this pregnancy in the show’s storyline. Although she didn’t have triplets, so they padded her a bit to give the feel of triplets.

Isn’t it amazing that the hottest couple of the show was crushing on each other? While shooting F.R.I.E.N.D.S. David Schwimmer, who played Ross, and Jennifer Anniston, who played Rachel, had a crush on each other. 

But since each of them saw some other person every time, both were reluctant to confess their feelings during the show.

#5 Mathew Perry was Helping his Friends to get the Role of Chandler

Isn’t it hilarious that Mathew Perry was helping his friends get the role of Chandler? He was busy with some other show, so he suggested the role to his friends. 

Some names among them are Jon Favreau and Jon Cryer. When Matthew finally didn’t go for the final season of his ongoing show, he auditioned for “Chandler” and succeeded.

#6 F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was Aired in Between Live Audience in Los Angeles

It’s unbelievable that the show was filmed in L.A., they only took shots of New York buildings for the show. Except for the cliffhanger episodes, it was filmed in front of a live audience. They couldn’t have an audience on such episodes which had suspense.

During the casting of the show, Courtney was the most popular actress at that time. She was offered Rachel’s character, but she insisted on performing as Monica. She is as neat as Monica has a dominant personality, and is very hyperactive.

Yes, Matt Le Blanc was all broke and had 11 dollars in his pocket. With his first income from the show, he bought himself a fancy dinner. He became a popular iconic star after the show’s success.
