Computing Guru Criticizes ChatGPT AI Technology for Making Things Better

ChatGPT by OpenAI and other competitors such as Google’s Bard has the potential to transform our online lives. They can answer questions, summarize presentations, and summarize presentations, among many other tasks. However, it uses its own web index to “ground” OpenAI’s fancy with trustworthy, authoritative documents.

Microsoft has begun building OpenAI’s language technology into its Bing Search engine in a serious challenge to Google

Cerf stated that he was shocked to discover ChatGPT could create fake information from factual bases. “I asked it to write me a biography about Vint Cerf. Cerf stated that the technology got a lot of things wrong. Cerf discovered the technology’s inner workings, which included statistical patterns that were derived from large amounts of training data.

Cerf stated that “It can string together a sentence that’s grammatically correct,” but has no real knowledge of what it is saying. “We are still a long way from self-awareness.”

OpenAI launched in February a $20 per-month plan to use ChatGPT. It was open about ChatGPT’s limitations, but it aims to improve it by “continuous iteration.”

ChatGPT can sometimes write plausible-sounding, but nonsensical answers. This issue can be difficult to fix,” ChatGPT’s AI research lab stated when ChatGPT was launched in November.

Cerf also hopes for success. He said, “Engineers like myself should be responsible for trying out a way of taming some of these technologies to make them less likely to cause trouble.”

Cerf’s remarks were in sharp contrast to the comments of John Hennessy (ex-Stanford President and chip design pioneer) who gave a more positive assessment of AI.
