ONLY GIRLS – Utah Legislature Overrides Governor’s Veto, Bans Biological Men from Women’s Sports

“I just want them to know that it’s okay,” Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated during the March transgender student protests when he pledged to veto this bill. “We’re going to work through this.”

The Daily Wire has received very few requests for comment from the Utah governor. He also appears to have removed his pronouns in his Instagram bio because the legislature overrode him.

Cox is among a handful of Republican governors who have vetoed similar legislation.

Asa Hutchinson, a Republican Arkansas Governor, vetoed April 2021 a bill banning transgender surgery and procedures for minors (though the state overrode his vote and passed the bill). Kristi Noem, a Republican South Dakota Governor, was heavily criticized by conservatives in March 2021 because she failed to certify a bill banning biological men from participating in women’s sports.

Noem signed another bill in February that required educational institutions to assign students to teams based on biological sex.

The governor who strongly resisted criticism of her actions in February, told The Daily Signal that the original bill was “deeply flawed” which would have led to it being taken to court.

According to data compiled from the American Civil Liberties Union, at least 29 states have taken steps to pass legislation that would ban biological males in women’s sports.

Another Republican-backed legislation prohibits minors to obtain transgender surgery and hormones — medical intervention that advocates and many of the legacy media define as “gender-affirming medical care.”

During the State of the Union speech in March, President Joe Biden called on lawmakers to pass the radical progressive Equality Act. He also criticized the “onslaught of state law targeting transgender Americans” and their families.

Biden said, “As I stated last year, especially to our young transgender Americans: I’ll always be your president so that you can be yourself, reach your God-given potential, and be yourself.”
