London Police Arrest 17-Year Old Hacker Suspected Of Uber and GTA6 Breaches

According to the department, the arrest was part of a joint investigation with the U.K. National Crime Agency’s Cyber Crime Unit.

The nature of the investigation was not disclosed. However, it is possible that the law enforcement action could be related to the recent series of hacks targeting Uber or Rockstar games.

Both intrusions were allegedly committed by the same threat actor known as Tea Pot (or teapotuberhacker).

Uber has, for its part pinned the breach onto an attacker (or attackers), it believes is connected with the LAPSUS$ fraud gang. Two of them are currently facing fraud charges.

According to cybersecurity company Flashpoint, the identity of the hacker responsible for the incidents was allegedly exposed online.

“The forum administrator claimed that teapotuberhacker was also the one who allegedly hacked Microsoft, and ‘owned Doxbin,” the company revealed Friday.

This means that the teapotuberhacker actor may also be known as the aliases White and Breachbase. He is believed to be the ” LAPSUS$”‘s apparent ringleader.

Although it is not clear at this time if these allegations are true, they could be the reason for the latest arrest of law enforcement officers.
