Apple’s Lockdown Mode for IOS 16 Will Be Used to Block Government Spyware Attacks

Apple announced Wednesday that it will add a “Lockdown Mode” to its iPhone and Mac software. This will disable certain features that are intended to help targeted individuals fight government-grade spyware.

According to the technology giant, the new feature provides “extreme protection” for device owners who are more vulnerable to being targeted by powerful spyware states like activists, journalists, and human rights defenders.
