“Your family now includes four generations. You are our head and our mother. Although your strength and perseverance (the late Duke) will be greatly missed, I know he is here in spirit. My papa would have loved the show and would have joined us in celebrating all you do for your country.

We are grateful for all that you did to make the Commonwealth a powerful force for good. You make history.

“I know what wakes my mother up each morning, and it is you, gentlemen. You all watching at home… Your Majesty you have been there for us through our most difficult times and brought us together to share moments of joy, pride, and happiness.

“You’ve met us, talked to us, laughed with us, and, most importantly, been there for our 70-years. You promised to serve your entire life. You continue to deliver. We are grateful for your continued support. This is what we celebrate tonight… It is why we all say “Thank you!”

William, his elder son, paid tribute to the efforts of the royal family in particular wildlife conservation and the protection of the Earth.

“While grandmothers don’t appreciate their grandmothers for talking about their years, my grandmother has lived for almost a century.
