Recently, Jade Pinkett shared her first Instagram post after the incident. Let’s find out what that features:
“Season For Healing”
In her Insta post, Pinkett shared a statement saying,” This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.” The post had heart and folded hand emoji as captions. While she did not refer to anything about the controversy, this was her first post since the Will Smith-Chris Rock incident that left everyone awestruck!
Smith, who won an Oscar for “King Richard” (best actor), later indicated his behavior as to how love makes you do crazy things! While accepting the award, he apologized to the Academy organizers but not to Rock, who he slapped!
In his acceptance speech, Smith said, “Now I know, to do what we do, you’ve got to be able to take abuse. You got to be able to have people talk crazy about you.
“In this business, you’ve got to be able to have people disrespecting you, and you’ve got to smile, and you’ve got to pretend like that’s OK.” He also mentioned, “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees.”
Later, he apologized to Chris Rock with a post on Instagram. In his post, he talked about how violence is poisonous and destructive and how his behavior was unacceptable and inexcusable.
He also mentioned what got into his nerves! By throwing light on the joke, he said that he understands how making jokes is Rock’s profession, but comedy on his wife’s medical condition was too much for him to handle. That’s why he reacted to Rock’s words emotionally!
He then clearly addressed Rock and made an apology for his behavior. Smith said that he was embarrassed by his actions, and his conduct doesn’t reflect the man he wants to be. His post also featured an apology to the Academy, attendees, Williams family, and co-workers/co-stars.
The Academy also came up with a statement that said, “The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct, and California law.”
Sources also said that the Academy “seriously discussed” asking Will Smith to leave the award show after the incident.

Right now, the internet is having multiple reactions! While some support Will Smith’s reaction but not his action, others think that Chris Rock handled the situation perfectly. Many people are doubtful whether the incident was scripted or real. But, what’s next for this controversy? Only time will tell!
