“How to Murder Your Husband” Author, Nancy on Trial for Murdering her Husband

What Happened in June 2018?

According to all the evidence and witnesses, Daniel Brophy, 63, arrived at work on June 2, 2018. His dead body was found at Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland. He was preparing for his work in the early morning at 7:30 am when he was killed.

Initially, the Police were clueless, there were no signs of struggle or theft, and there were no enemies of Daniel Brophy. The killing resulted from gunshots at the back and front, aiming to attack the heart. After a few months, the Police started to dig a little more and found suspicious and strange evidence against her wife. 

The Juicy and Suspicious Evidence

One of the most interesting details that Police got was that there were half a dozen life insurance policies of Crampton-Brophy. So Nancy would get a handsome amount of money if Daniel died while he was at work. 

Also, Daniel and Nancy bought a gun online from eBay, which matched the bullet found at the murder scene. Prosecutors wrote in an April 2020 memorandum. “Detectives then suspected that Nancy Brophy removed the original slide and barrel from the gun show gun that she submitted to the Police and replaced it with eBay. 

Then she purchased a slide and barrel shot her husband and replaced the eBay slide and barrel with the original. In this way, being able to present a new, fully- intact firearm to Police that would not match the shell casings that she left at the crime scene,” prosecutors wrote in an April 2020 memorandum.

 “Detectives have never recovered the slide and barrel purchased on eBay. Additionally, Nancy Brophy deleted her eBay account just days after the murder.”

Despite her claims that she was at home on the murder day, the footage shows something else. The footage had a recording that displayed her driving around 6:39 am toward the shooting area and another video of her going away at 7:30 am. The murder occurred in this window.

The Trial

After getting so much evidence against her wife, almost after three years, Nancy is up for trial. The delay in the case was mainly due to COVID -19 protocols. The trails will begin this Monday. 

Nancy will answer all the evidence against her and if she murdered Daniel for more than $1 million in life insurance. Then, finally, Daniels’s family will get justice. 

Nancy’s answer to all the evidence was, “Writers are liars,” she wrote in a post on her website. “I don’t remember who said that, but it’s not true. In writing fiction, you dig deep and unearth portions of your own life that you’ve long forgotten or had purposely buried deep.”
