She had a robust career, anchored by her role as Mrs. Potato Head in the second to fourth chapters of the Toy Story series. Channeling the stamina of the part in “Seinfeld,” she had a loving relationship with Mrs. Potato Head, voiced perfectly by Don Rickles. From that point, she popped up in various small and large animated projects, including films like “Tarzan II” (2005) and “Brother Bear” (2003).

Background of Estelle Harris

Harris was born on April 22, 1928, in New York City. She grew up in the city and then moved to the Pittsburgh suburb of Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Her father owned a candy store there. She started using her comedic talents during high school productions. There she realized that she could make people get hysterical.

“Seinfeld” ended in 1998, and after that, Harris continued to appear on the screen and stage. She voiced in the animated blockbuster “Toy Story 2” in 1999 as Mrs. Potato Head. She also played Muriel’s recurring character in the well-known Disney Channel sitcom “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”

She got married in the early 1950s; then, she stopped pursuing show business. But later, she resumed acting in dinner theater, amateur groups, and commercials to bear the expenses of her three children. Eventually, she started doing guest roles on TV shows, like the legal comedy “Night Court.” She also appeared in films, including director Sergio Leone’s gangster film”Once Upon a Time in America.”

Her “Seinfeld” debut made her win the Emmy Award in 1992. In addition, Estelle Costanza’s role ranked at Number Nine in Rolling Stone’s list of best Seinfield Characters. In addition to her character’s watchful eye over her son, the love-hate chemistry with Jerry Stiller’s Frank Costanza made her unforgettable. Furthermore, her superheroic skills in producing large amounts of paella and contempt for Jerry Seinfeld’s snooty parents made her character memorable.

Her other film credits include CBGB, Promoted,  Dancing in September, Playing Mona Lisa,  Lost & Found,  and My Giant. She also worked in Out to Sea, Stand and Deliver,  This Is My Life,  and Looking Up. Boasting a unique voice and comedic gifts, Harris was also known as the Queen of Commercials on Madison Avenue. She has recorded 25 national TV spots in one year.

As per Estelle’s Son, Glen Harris, her passion was her work. She loved and enjoyed her work a lot. Estelle Harris has a total of three children, as well as three grandsons and a great-grandson. However, her passion, kindness, sensitivity, empathy, humor, and love were practically unrivaled. Her demise is very disappointing, and she will be missed terribly by her co-artists, juniors, friends, audience, and all those who knew her.
