Mother of four, she said about motherhood: “Even though my son died and all the choices he made in his life, I wouldn’t change a thing.” The lessons he taught me about living …”are the best way to know this kind of love

She said that the greatest lesson was, “He taught us that I can’t save anyone else and I am not expected to save anyone else.” He said that the best thing I could do was to stand in my truth and love of myself. He didn’t get it, but drugs got him there.

Etheridge stated that Beckett had been in a downward spiral into addiction since he was 17. When he was 17, he was training to become a professional snowboarder. He reportedly had hopes of competing in the X Games. An ankle injury caused him to be prescribed painkillers, which eventually led to substance abuse. Etheridge stated that the injury “shattered” his life because he couldn’t do what he was passionate about anymore. It affected his self-confidence.

Etheridge stated that she tried her best to help her son as a parent by offering treatment programs and sometimes tough love.
