America Listed as Green Country

France has listed the US as the green country, which means the travel restrictions and protocols will be transparent for US citizens. If any fully-vaccinated person is willing to enter the country, they might be able to do so by showing their vaccination certificate. Likewise, those who aren’t vaccinated may also enter the country, but they have to be Covid negative.

For that, they have to carry a negative RTPCR report that should be done within 72 hours of departure. They can also take a Covid rapid antigen test within 48 hours of departure and show the negative result as proof.

Besides the vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, people who were infected by the virus will also be able to enter the country. However, they will have to show the prior reports as proof of being infected and recovered by the virus. This should be within six months of the trip.

Note that these rules are for adults. Children aged 12 or below are free from any obligation or pre-entry testing requirements. This means they will be able to enter the country without any hassle.

Talking about green countries, government officials consider a country to be on the green list when they have lesser virus circulation in the absence of any emerging variant of concern. Presently, the US is seeing a dip in Covid19 cases with 55,480 cases as of 14th March 2022. This comes months later after the omicron wave that peaked in mid-January 2022.

Other than easing the travel restrictions for US residents, France has alleviated various Covid19 curbs in the country. Weeks earlier, they discontinued the need for pre-departure testing for vaccinated travelers.

Additionally, they deferred mask rules and vaccination passes. These vaccination passes were a must-have to enter public places, including restaurants and trains in France. Also, masks are only mandatory when accessing public transport. France has also lifted the necessity of non-jabbed US residents to provide a reason for entering the country.

Despite the easing of travel restrictions, the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (US) has warned the citizens against traveling to France. That’s because France is indicated as a “Level 4” destination that has higher chances of disease transmission. At present, the country is recording about 18K+ covid cases and 185 casualties daily.

Other Countries in Line

Besides France, other countries like Ireland and Iceland have eased the border restrictions for travelers too. This means one can enter both Ireland and Iceland regardless of their vaccination status. While eased curbs are good news for wanderers, it’s best to get yourself vaccinated before traveling anywhere inside or outside the US!
