Brad Pitt and Ines de Ramon mingle at the Babylon Premiere Afterparty

On Thursday’s red carpet at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Pitt spoke to PEOPLE about the “intense” filming schedule of the 1920’s comedy-drama. It also stars TobeyMaguire, Olivia Wilde and Jean Smart. Jeff Garlin is also in the movie. Margot Robbie, Pitt’s Hollywood costar, was also present.

“We have 700 additional soldiers, performing a war scene in background. Pitt stated that we are trying to capture it just before the sun sets. That’s what movie-making is like. It’s like you’re losing the light. Everyone is racing and jamming to make this happen. We have a very limited time. It’s in cement. It’s intense.”

He added, “So there’s an instant of that in the movie that’s really lovely.”

PEOPLE also got to know why Pitt believes Diego Calva, costar to the film, is Hollywood’s next big thing.
