A Woman Gets A Tattoo On Her 100th Birthday

The city, state, and year of her birth are now displayed on her left arm: “NY NY 1922.”

Thomas, her son, said that he thought the tattoos were “wonderful” as they gathered for a party in St. Joseph. Weberg lives in her own “very cute little home” and is independent from her family.

She does all the cooking, cleaning, and gardening herself. Up until this year, the centenarian drove a car. She said that she has not been affected by any serious illness.

When asked about his mother’s remarkable longevity, her son quickly listed a number of reasons. She is very politically active. She is active in her local community. He said that she enjoys a glass wine every day.

Weberg expressed her love for red wine and a glass with every meal. This is in keeping with research which has shown people who consume moderate amounts of alcohol live longer than those who abstain.

She eats lots and lots of vegetables. This is a habit that she adopted as a child during the Great Depression. She ate lots and lots of spinach, mashed potatoes and butter — “just normal, comfort food that kept me alive and healthy.”
