Tom Hanks, the Famed Nepo Dad, Gets Defensive about Son Appearing in His New Movie

Hanks claimed then that his famous last name did not give his children an advantage in Hollywood.

His son Colin Hanks was a star in “Fargo”, and has appeared in many movies including “King Kong,” Jumanji: The Next Level, and “The House Bunny”. His son Chet Hanks also played roles in the TV series “Shameless,” and “Empire.”

Hanks stated, “The one thing that doesn’t change, regardless of what happens, and no matter your last name, is whether or not it works.”

“That’s the problem whenever any of us try to tell a new story or create something with a beginning, middle, and end. It doesn’t matter who our last names were. It is essential that we do the work to create an authentic and genuine experience for our audience.

Hanks stated, “That’s a far bigger task than worrying whether anyone’s going to try and scathe you or not.”

While the “nepo baby” cultural concept is still relatively new, actors using the family business excuse are getting quite old.

Zoe Kravitz, the daughter of actor Lisa Bonet and musician Lenny Kravtiz, used the same tactic.

She told that it’s normal for people to work in the family business.

Kate Hudson, daughter of actor Golden Hawn, and step-daughter to actor Kurt Russell used a very similar approach when speaking to The Independent last week.

“I look at my children, and I see a storytelling family. Hudson stated that it is a part of our DNA.

These celebrities might take a leaf from “nepo boy” Allison Williams’ playbook, and show a little more accountability.

In an interview with Vulture, “Girls” star and former NBC journalist Brian Williams called nepotism “just unjust” earlier this week.

Vulture told her that “Period is the end of the story” and that no one is really trying to make it fair. It’s absurd to not acknowledge the fact that I started out as an actress and not someone with zero connections. It doesn’t diminish the work I have done. It’s just that it’s less fun for me to root.”
