Sony-Honda Aims to Compete with Tesla by Including PS5 in Its EVs

This is a way for Sony Honda and Tesla to distinguish themselves from each other. Kawanishi, who was previously the head of Sony’s AI robotics division, said that it was technically possible to incorporate the PS5 platform into their cars.

Yasuhide, the chair of the joint venture, stated that Honda cars’ former head Yasuhide Mikuno said that the company is focusing its production on content and will introduce its first North American car model to the market by 2025.

Kawanishi has experience with Aibo the robot dog and the PS3.

The rapid rise of Tesla to become one of the most valuable car companies in the world, surpassing Japanese giants like Toyota, has made the EV market a race. Tech companies such as Apple and Google are also working on EVs, alongside traditional car manufacturers.

Sony-Honda is keen to make content the priority, so another feature that has been hotly anticipated will need to be developed. You can enjoy your car’s space by making it an area you don’t need to drive. Autonomous Driving is the solution to this problem, Kawanishi explained to the FT.

The engineer said that this will take some time. The FT spoke to an analyst who believed that the joint venture was a way for Sony’s capabilities to be promoted. The analyst suggested that Sony could market its services and content to larger EV players by demonstrating what it can do.

Playing a PS5 in your car right now is not easy, so mark your calendars for 2025 to see if Sony will make an EV with PlayStation content.
