Sluggish Box Office for ‘Black Adam’ as Theaters Wait ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’

This weekend is the calm before the storm.

Dwayne Johnson‘s comic book adventure “HTMO_ Black Adam ” dominated the box office charts with $18.5 million in North American ticket sales. As theater owners eagerly awaited Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which is expected to revive the ailing fall box office, it was another quiet weekend at the movies.

After just three weeks, “Black Adam”, which was released in North America on June 7, has earned $137.3 million and $319 million worldwide. It’s a solid performance that surpasses the DC entry 2021’s “The Suicide Squad”, which tapped out with $168m globally and was simultaneously shown on HBO Max in North America. The $195 million production budget for Warner Bros.’s latest standalone superhero story is still a significant amount.
