Scientists Have Created ‘Living Skin’ For Robots.

The idea of artificial humans has fascinated and scared us for centuries, from Talos the bronze automaton that guarded the princess Europa according to ancient Greek myths, through Cylons and Terminators.

With the introduction of living robot skin, we are now closer than ever to making robots look like humans. This unpleasant-looking substance is water resistant, self healing and has a texture similar to our skin.

Because it is actually made from human skin cells.

Shoji Takeuchi, a tissue engineer at the University of Tokyo, said that living skin was the best way to give robots the appearance and touch of living animals.

Researchers have successfully coated a working robot finger with a prototype lab-grown skin.
