Russia claims its Peresvet laser weapon can blind satellites and burn drones

Peresvet appears to be being mass-produced in Russia and then supplied to its troops.

It is possible that Russian forces are using the mobile laser system to fight Ukraine. However, there has been no evidence.

Borisov continues to assert that “unannounced replacements” to the Peresvet system exist and that, “This primarily is a laser weapon. An electromagnetic wideband weapon which will replace (conventional weapon) in the next ten years – this idea is not exotic; it’s the reality.”

This laser’s name comes from the Russian Orthodox monk Alexander Peresvet (Opens in new window), who is well-known for his duel against the Tatar champion Temir–murza in 1380. Both men died in the duel but Russian legend says Peresvet didn’t fall from the saddle like his opponent.
