PS122m Tory Peer Linked To Government-Funded Firm For PPE Purchased For PS46m

Documents leaked to Guardian reveal the extraordinary profits made by PPE Medpro, its supply chain partners, and documents that include contracts and inspection reports for the company’s sterile surgical gowns.

The 25m gowns were purchased at the outbreak of the pandemic and delivered in 2020. However, they were not used by the NHS. After an inspection, officials from the government rejected them.

For months, the Department of Health and Social Care has been trying to recover money from PPE Medpro via a mediation process. According to the firm, it can keep the money because the gowns were approved by DHSC agents after inspection.

The contract for 25m sterilized surgical gowns from PPE Medpro was one among two that were awarded to the company. It was obtained through a government VIP lane for politically connected businesses.
