Porsche Has Just Transformed Its Porsche 911 Sports Car Into an Off-Road Monster.

Porsche isn’t the only one mixing them, with SUVs accounting for a larger percentage of sales than sports cars. Lamborghini announced the imminent release of an off-road-ready version of its Huracan supercar (10-cylinder) soon. Both Lamborghini and Porsche are part of the Volkswagen Group.

The 911 Dakar can be raised an additional 1.2 inches for higher clearance situations.

The car can travel just 105 mph at that height. The 911 Dakar’s 673 horsepower, 473 horsepower engine can reach speeds of 150 mph at regular ride height and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

Porsche claims that the car’s four-wheel steering system, which allows the rear wheels to turn slightly more than the front, and its computer-controlled stability control system were specifically tuned for handling loose dirt and gravel surfaces. Rallye Mode is the preferred mode for off-asphalt driving. The off-road mode has two options. Rallye Mode can be used for smooth dirt roads or gravel roads, while Off-Road Mode raises the car to drive over rough terrain and on loose surfaces.

This Porsche 911 will be a very expensive model, even for a 911 Porsche. The cars will be priced starting at $222,000, but they will sell for much more if you add various options. Next spring, the first cars will be made available in the USA. Porsche claims that only 2,500 cars will be produced.

The 911 Dakar’s carbon-fiber hood is identical to the 911 GT3. This high-performance track-focused 911 variant has a carbon fiber hood. The 911 Dakar does not have backseats like other 911 models and has lightweight windows. This helps to save weight.

A roof basket can hold up to 92.5 pounds of equipment, as well as a rooftop camping tent. There’s also an electrical socket on the roof that can be used to plug in lights. The optional Rally Design Package adds a white-and-dark blue paint scheme to the car, based on the 911 that won the 1984 rally. Buyers can pick their racing number up to 3 digits with this paint scheme.
