Ncuti Gatwa is The New Doctor Who

The BBC announced that Sexual Education’s Ncuti Gatta has been chosen as the new star of  Doctor Who, This will bring the 14th Doctor onto screens in 2023.

“There aren’t enough words to describe what I feel.” In a statement released by The BBC, Gatwa stated that she felt deeply honored, excited, and scared. “This show and role mean so much to so many people around the globe, including me. Each one of my extraordinarily talented predecessors has taken that unique responsibility and privilege with the greatest care. I will do my best to do the exact same. Russell T Davies is as famous as the Doctor and it is an honor to be able to work alongside him. His writing is exciting, dynamic, intelligent and full of danger. A metaphorical playground for actors.

Gatwa, best known for his role in Netflix’s comedy series Eric Effiong, will also appear in Warner Bros.’s upcoming Barbie movie. He will be joined by Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie. Jodie Whittaker’s last Doctor Who story will air in late 2022 to celebrate the 100th anniversary. As per tradition, Gatwa will make his Doctor debut at the finale of the episode, during the 13th Doctor’s regeneration. He will then make his full debut as Doctor in 2023 under the new, returning showrunner Russel T. Davies.
