Melanie Lynskey Remembers Body Shaming During ‘Coyote Ugly’

She said, “I have never liked that word.”

Lynskey spoke out about the scrutiny she faced over her appearance after her first film, Peter Jackson’s “Heavenly Creatures.” Lynskey stated that she received fewer offers than her co-star Kate Winslet, who went on to play many ingenue roles.

Lynskey, who was criticized for her looks in Hollywood’s early years, told the Reporter that she is “very protective” about her younger “Yellowjackets co-stars. They are all younger versions of the main characters. Lynskey and her co-stars shared the good news that younger cast members can stand up for their rights.
