H.R. 2116 was passed. The measure, H.R. 2116, was passed by a vote of 234 to 189 across party lines. It was proposed by Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.

Crown stands for Creating an Open and Respectful World for Natural Hair. The act prohibits discrimination based upon a person’s hair texture or style. Now, the Senate will consider the bill.

The law states that “routinely people of African descent are denied educational and job opportunities” for wearing natural or protective hairstyles like bantu knots, twists or braids.
