Donald Trump Appears at Ivana Trump’s Burial
Mourners smiled when Ivanka reminded them of one of her favorite catch phrases. She said it in her Czech accent and she was proud to say that “There’s nothing I like better than high heels.”
Hay stated that “Ivanka looked amazing — she is her mother’s daughter — in a fitted black dress with white pearls.”
Donald Trump Jr. recalled his mother’s reaction to him throwing a temper tantrum at Gosman’s Montauk restaurant, in the Hamptons at age 4.
He remembered having a good time and laughing when he said, “My mother took me to the toilet and gave me an old-world punishment.”
“And I went with my butt red. She said that if I cried, she would bring me back for more. Although it wouldn’t work today, Hay said that Donald Trump Jr. spoke fondly about her during his eulogy.
Eric Trump spoke highly of his mother’s intelligence and beauty, saying she could “beat any man down the slopes or any woman on the runway,” The New York Post reported. He said she was the “embody of American dreams”.
She didn’t see her death coming. Eric, Eric’s brother, told mourners that she had told her the night before she died that she would live for 120 years.
On Wednesday, the Trump family attended a private funeral at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel.
Trump, who cringingly paired Ivana Trump’s announcement with a request for political donations, did not deliver any remarks.
Throughout the Mass, security was tight. Except for the motorcade, the street from which the former president and first wife entered the church was closed. Around 100 members of the press were present outside.
Outside, many neighbors paid their respects, despite the heat of over 90 degrees.
“Ivana was very reserved because, you know. People always wanted something from him,” said Marie Noelle Levin (a neighbor and acquaintance), a native Frenchwoman who refused to reveal her age.
Levin, whose daughter Ivanka attended ballet school together with Levin, said that she “but she’s European like me”
“I loved her a lot. The way I admire people who are from my continent and live amazing lives here.
Donald Trump hosted a White House funeral in his honor Robert six months before he left office. He avoided state funerals.
He was unable to attend the funeral of Rep. John Lewis, civil rights leader, in Atlanta two summers back, attended by Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton who all delivered eulogies.
However, the former president was known to attend memorial services unannounced at his Mar-a-Lago resort. This was likely due to his love for an audience.
Bloomberg was told by a resort member that Trump crashed the memorial service and then gave a speech. He also stayed for the “adulation” afterward.
Trump isn’t the first Washington A-lister or former president to attend a funeral at the elegant Upper East Side church, where Andy Warhol used to worship.
Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton, then-Secretary to State, attended the funeral of Geraldine Ferraro’s one-time presidential candidate, along with Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker.
