BUSAN SoAuth Korea — Nearly 55,000 people crowded into Asiad Stadium in the southeastern port of Seoul on Saturday (15 October), creating chaos in South Korea’s second-most-populated city. They came to see BTS’ massive free concert. This included thousands of K-pop’s loyal fans, the ARMY, who were unable to get tickets for the 90-minute event.

Jin, 29, is the most prominent figure in all the developments around BTS. Jin is expected to join military service by year’s end if there are no abrupt amendments to the country’s compulsory draft legislation. In the midst all the political drama, and the announcement that the group would be going on hiatus in order to pursue solo projects, BTS has assumed the role of ambassador for the World Expo 2030. Busan hopes to host it.

“This is three years of cheering and roaring for us. It’s been three decades since we could shout at the tops of our lungs to the boys,” Elle Kwak told Billboard. “The concerts in Seoul this year were very disappointing, as it was difficult to not clap and make noise for the performers on stage. It was also hard on the performers, as we could see.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, loud noises and clapping were strictly forbidden at the Permission to Dance On Stage – Seoul concerts that took place in March.

Kwak, her friends, and many others were also sitting down on the ground near the entrance gates. Kwak was not among the lucky ones to get a ticket. They brought blankets, warm coats, and mufflers to weather the cold.

Ash Hackworth, a fan of BTS, said that the concert brought back memories of when they headlined London’s Wembley Stadium.

The 32-year old, who hails from Los Angeles, said that “just like in 2019, it is a festival of the world coming together.” “The excitement is what brought us here and it will keep us dancing outside the stadium. It’s special that you will hear songs performed live for the first time since RM was mentioned in a stream a few days ago.

Hackworth is optimistic, despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of the group.

She said, “I look forward to the second phase of the group.” “J-Hope’s solo album of rock was amazing, so I’m looking forward to hearing all the solo projects by the other members.”

Jin made a surprise announcement at the end of the event that he would be the second member to release his own solo project.

The singer told screaming fans, “I had the chance to work with someone that I like,”

Others have however expressed their desire for more from BTS, and HYBE was formed to provide that.

Kwak and her friends stated that they really wanted a world tour. “It was politics and the pandemic that stopped BTS from touring the globe. We are always available to follow them around the globe if they have a plan.
