Bruce Willis Quits Acting Following Aphasia Diagnosis

Bruce Willis announced his retirement from the acting profession after being diagnosed in 2008 with aphasia. This disorder is caused by brain damage and affects one’s ability to communicate. 

Willis’ family shared a statement on social media that announced his retirement.

“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, we wanted the family to share that Bruce has been struggling with some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia. This is affecting his cognitive ability,” reads the statement. Bruce will be leaving the career that means so much to him as a result. This was done after much thought.
