Are Business Travelers Going Back to Las Vegas’ Consumer Electronics Show?

Each year, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), spokespeople proclaim that the Consumer Electronics Show will be the largest and most successful yet. CTA no longer says that. However, it predicts 2500 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors to Las Vegas in January.

Gary Shapiro (CEO, CTA) stated that CES 2023 is continuing to grow and generate excitement. “We are delighted with the show’s momentum, and look forward to opening halls of innovation for visitors in January.”

Why not? CES is a key player in the global tradeshow market

It generated $34.4 million in pre-COVID 2019. As recent as 2020, CES had over 4,000 exhibitors and 170,000 visitors from all over the globe.

The 2020 show was held just before COVID-19’s worldwide spread. It may have been, but some reports and interviews with participants who fell ill refer to CES 2020 as the first COVID-19 superpreader event.

Manufacturers would welcome the return of CES on a large scale. They haven’t had much opportunity to showcase their products live to buyers, wholesalers and resellers. Both startups and leaders in electronics love the opportunity to show their products to hundreds of journalists at exclusive events such as ShowStoppers- Meet the Press.
